WHOLESALE - BENEFIT FOR ERLIN AT ALDO COFFEE

On Saturday, May 7, 2005, Ellie and myself had the pleasure of assisting with an educational and fund-raising event at Aldo Coffee Co. in Pittsburgh, PA.  The “Benefit for Erlin” featured music by Julieta Ugartemendia and photography, taken by Jennie Allshire, celebrating the people and geography of Guatemala and Honduras.  The evening stared with a coffee tasting where about 20 people gathered to learn about regional taste differences in coffee, and how different types of processing effect flavor as well.   Coffees were sampled from all over the world an ended with new crop coffees from Guatemala and Honduras.  Many attended, bought gift baskets and photos, and in all, over $1,000 was raised to help purchase furniture for a 12 year old boy named Erlin and his family in Guatemala.  They just recently had a fourth wall added to their house, and his family has never slept on a bed.  This money will hopefully go a long way for Erlin, his mother, and his 5 brothers and sisters.  All in all, it was an exciting night of meeting new people, sharing great experiences, and drinking great coffee!
