MILLENNIUM PARK - MILLENNIUM PARK BARISTA OF THE MONTH

Jesse Crouse is the Barista of the Month at the Intelligentsia Millennium Park Café for July/August 2007. Jesse has been with Intelligentsia for about 10 months and a Barista for about 4, although he’s been drinking coffee since he was 10. “My parents didn’t mind me drinking it. I have been drinking coffee ever since. In the dorms at college I was known as the guy with the good coffee.”

Jesse’s favorite drink to make is the Espresso Macchiato because, “it is delicate and takes a sure hand.” Jesse’s professionalism, knowledge, and positivity are what keep his customers coming back. And Jesse understands how his drink making affects his customer’s happiness. “I think one of the most important aspects of being a Barista is knowing how the customers feel about the drink they were just served. If they loved it then I know what I did made sense, but if they did not then I can examine my steps to better understand the craft.”

Besides rockin’ out the killer drinks, Jesse is a Poetry Major at Columbia College. He also likes to ride his bike…. a lot.
