Goodrich Gevaart is the Barista of the Month at the Millennium Park Café for May/June 2007. Goodrich has been working at the café as a Barista for about 9 months. He came to Intelligentsia after graduating from college with a writing degree. “I (of course) needed a job and a friend helped me get work at Intelligentsia. Before I worked here I really liked ‘cappuccino’ from the gas station……now I know better. I didn’t know black coffee or straight espresso could taste this good.”

Goodrich’s favorite drink to make is the cortado, “in its nice little glass. It looks so sleek waiting to get picked up from the bar and anyone who tries it totally falls in love. Plus its fun to slip tiny rosettas on top.” Goodrich was nominated for Barista of the Month, not just because of his work behind the bar, but because of his great attitude and pleasant customer service. “I really enjoy giving the knowledge I’ve gotten from my year of working here to customers. It’s also good times when people are surprised at a nice rosetta on top of their latte when they weren’t expecting it. The coffee geeks are great too, because they can really appreciate what we’re throwing down.”

In his spare time, Goodrich likes to start bands that break up (3 in 4 years!), obsess over comedy, write, try to figure out what his upstairs neighbors are yelling about, sleep, and talk in silly voices.
